Wonderful Experience Every Time
Dr Sprute is the best. I also deal with Rayna and she is also fantastic! I had an external ear infection ( swimmer's ear) and I went to a clinic near by (5 minutes away) to get it seen and they prescribed antibiotic drops. My ear got worse. I went to see Rayna and in addition to the ear drops she prescribed oral antibiotic and the pain subsided about 45 minutes after I took the first dose. It just got better and better quick. I've been going here for 5 yrs now and always had great service. Front desk are wonderful too.

Dr Hallmark is a wonderful doctor with an excellent bedside manner. Her partners, Drs Sprute and Heller are also amazing people. The Nurse Practioners, Raina and Tiffany, know their business. I highly recommend this practice .

Quality Personal Care
Dr. Heller is a very unique doctor. She talks with you, discusses the possible solutions to your medical problems and won't leave the room until you are through asking questions. She is a very caring doctor. One time after changing an Rx for me, she called to check up on me personally. It was Mother's day and she was on vacation! Her co-doctors are as good. Her nurse practitioner is as good as speaking with Dr. Heller. You can't go wrong with her and her office. Even the lab lady who draws your blood is wonderful. Thanks Dr. Heller and staff! If you have to wait, it will be worth it. Remember she is giving the same great care you'll be expecting.

Caring & Nurturing
Absolutely love my Doc, she is beyond caring and nurturing as a person. I have referred so many people and other nurse colleagues including family. She’s just never rushed during our visits and always attentive to what I am there for or concerned without. You see her mind working as you tell her what’s going on and she is problem solving my concerns. As a Rn you do not see Docs pay much attention to their patients usually a 5 min walk in and out maybe hear something you said. Dr Sprute is by far my favorite PCP go to person if anyone asks or looking for leads.

After my first appointment with Dr. Sprute, all I can say is, she ROCKS! The staff is friendly, her nurses are great, and Dr. Sprute took as much time as was needed to make sure we were both were on the same page. Worth the Time & Wait
While Dr. Juanita Sprute is often behind in her schedule it's because she spends so much quality time with her patients. In this day and age it's typical to be rushed in and out allowing 15 minutes a patient. Dr. Sprute is incredibly knowledgeable, unbelievably smart, an excellent listener and pays a great deal of attention to her patients. I highly recommend her!

Kimberly Heller, M.D.
Dr. Heller was born in Norfolk, Virginia and is the proud daughter of a Navy pilot and a registered nurse. She came to San Antonio in 1978 to attend Trinity University. Dr. Heller graduated medical school from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1985, then stayed to complete her residency in Family Medicine. After becoming board certified in Family Practice, she entered private practice and has been a principal with Jefferson Family Practice since 1988. Dr. Heller is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Medical School and participates in the Texas Statewide Family Practice Preceptor Program mentoring medical students. Dr. Heller is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Bexar County Medical Society. She loves her practice and her family. Dr. Heller has been married since 1982 and has five children (three adopted from Russia). She also serves on the Board of Directors of Russia Family Homes, a 501(c)(3) Christian ministry that teaches life skills to graduating orphans.
Jenny Sprute, M.D.
Dr. Sprute was born into an Army family in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. After a few years of travel, her father retired from the Army in Killeen, Texas where she graduated from Ellison High School. Dr. Sprute graduated from Baylor University in 1988 and from The University of Michigan Medical School in 1994. She completed a 3-year Family Practice residency in Austin, Texas and was the Chief Resident in her last year of residency. Dr. Sprute moved to San Antonio and joined Jefferson Family Practice after completion of her residency and has been in this private practice since 1997. She is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Sprute has two daughters that have grown into wonderful God-loving women. During her years with Jefferson Family Practice, she was also the Medical Director and board member of St. PJ’s Children’s Home for several years. She was a contract physician with Vitas Hospice for nearly ten years and is the Chief of Staff at the main Methodist Hospital 2020-2021. Dr. Sprute has mentored both medical students and nurse practitioner students. She is dedicated to helping patients find ways to sustain healthy habits for disease prevention.
Alaina Hallmark, M.D.
Dr. Hallmark was born in Austin, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1999, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed residency training in the Christus Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency Program where she received the Resident Scholar Award for outstanding academic performance. She is board certified in Family Medicine and joined Jefferson Family Practice in 2002. She has also served as a community preceptor for the UTMB School of Medicine in Galveston and has served in numerous officer positions for the Alamo Chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Hallmark has a special interest in preventive medicine and really enjoys the "family" aspect of family medicine, having numerous families where she cares for three generations. She enjoys spending time outdoors and with her children and family.

Jefferson Family Practice was established in late 1988. We were originally located in the historic Jefferson area of San Antonio before moving to our current location on Huebner Road in the Medical Center. In our practice we strive to bring excellence and compassion to the practice of evidence-based medicine

We have 3 Board Certified Family Medicine Physicians and 3 licensed Family Nurse Practitioners, working as a very close team to provide timely, quality healthcare. A doctor is always on the premises to ensure that patients receive a consistently high standard of care.
